WHY ACT NOW?
Scituate's natural resources have been under increasing development pressure in recent years, and are presently at greater risk than ever. Large scale development in the area has accelerated the loss of open space.

These lands contribute to the protection of Scituate and Cohasset's drinking water supply and provide excellent habitat for native wildlife, including species listed by the State as rare and endangered. This property is the focus of the Trust's current fundraising efforts.

The Trust believes that we must act now to protect our legacy - the land - with commitment and dedication.

A plan has been developed that includes selling the back mostly upland acreage (approximately 22 acres adjoining the 40 acre Litchfield property) to the town at below market rates. The Trust has been working with the Community Preservation Committee to facilitate this sale.
